1. RESEARCH / ANALYSIS
(i) To conduct fundamental and technical analyses on companies, industries, regulations and economies.
(ii) To give ideas to enhance the Company’s investment returns.
(iii) To continuously update oneself on investment and economic matters (both globally and locally) through news media, brokers’ reports, Bloomberg, etc and to brief the same to the team members, staff or management during meetings.
(iv) To identify & suggest viable investment opportunities.
(v) To attend analysts’ briefings and investors’ conferences.
(vi) To attend meetings with the fund managers, investment advisor, brokers, etc.
2. REPORTING / DOCUMENTATION
(i) To analyse and prepare investment proposals on companies, funds and financial products for potential investment purposes based on primary and secondary market data.
(ii) To interpret and prepare reports on the market and economic outlook domestically and globally, foreign exchange rates, interest rates, as well as the review and outlook of the various investment asset classes.
(iii) To update the Head of Department of the general performance (present and outlook) of the equity and bond markets, as well as the interest rates and foreign exchange rates prior to any Management Committee, Board Committees and Board Meetings.
(iv) To prepare reports for various meetings of the Company including, but not limited to, the Management Committee, Board Committees and Board.
(v) To prepare and table investment proposals for the Management Investment Committee’s consideration.
(vi) To assist in the review of investment strategies, forecasts & budgets.
(vii) To prepare reports for various external parties including, but not limited to, the rating agencies and regulatory bodies.
(viii) To prepare proposals on the appointment of external fund managers, investment brokers, financial institutions and other investment related counterparties.
(ix) To supervise subordinates in the preparation of various regular internal reports and other standard reports tabled to the Management Committee, Board Committees and Board.
(x) To supervise subordinates in the Treasury and/ or Backroom functions.
3. MONITORING & COMPLIANCE
(i) To update the Head of Department or Immediate Superior of any significant price movements in the Company’s investment portfolio, and any news that might have an impact on the performance of Labuan Re’s investment portfolios.
(ii) To monitor the performance of the existing securities held in the portfolios and to give advice on them when warranted, including to prepare proposals to restructure or remove them.
(iii) To source for the best price from the panel Brokers to purchase or sell any financial instrument.
(iv) To execute the investment trades with the Brokers.
(v) To ensure that all instructions given to the Brokers and Fund Managers are adhered to.
(vi) To assist in the monitoring of the Company's treasury and liquidity requirement.
(vii) To ensure compliance to the investment guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as to recommend improvement(s).
